Charleston Program
Our Charleston Program is also known as the Monthly Program since it requires you to come to the office once per month. It was developed by Dr. Robert Johnson of Charleston for those people who either have only a few pounds to lose and are satisfied with losing more slowly or with people who live so far away that they can only get here occasionally. Also, generally, this group of people, usually, is not as interested in investing the time, effort and energy in the process of weight loss. Essentially, it's a balanced deficit diet.

The rationale of this program is to enable you to lose your weight while still eating "regular" food and, at the same time, help you to begin the formation of new habit patterns (involving both food and exercise).

This program does not offer the rapid weight loss of the PSMF Program, but it will still get you to your goal weight in due time.

Each month when you come into the office, you'll be measured and weighed, your blood pressure will be checked, you'll have an opportunity to discuss any problems that may have developed or to ask any questions you may have. Both the physician and the medical assistant will want to see you at this visit. At this same time, you'll pick up any vitamin and mineral supplementation you need for the following month, as well as any appetite suppressant that you may be using.
